Two ShelterBoxes Donated by Capital Rotary Club
In November 2013, parts of the Philippines were devastated by one of the strongest typhoons on record. Thousands lost their lives, more than 30,000 were injured, and millions displaced or affected.
In the spirit of their motto, “Service Above Self”, the Columbia Capital Rotary Club members internally raised $2,425 that funded two shelter boxes tremendously helping people in need in the Philippines. Each durable shelter box was shipped and contained essential resources such as:
- A tent, blankets, insulated ground sheets, mosquito nets,
- Water purification kits,
- Cooking supplies such as pans, utensils, bowls, mugs and water storage containers,
- A basic tool kit containing a hammer, axe, saw, trenching shovel, hoe head, pliers and wire cutters,
- A children’s pack containing drawing books, crayons and other supplies.
