COLUMBIA, SC – January 2, 2014 – Richardson Plowden & Robinson, P.A. is pleased to announce that attorney Michelle Parsons Kelley was recently appointed by Governor Nikki Haley to serve on the State Workforce Investment Board (SWIB).

The SWIB provides direction to the South Carolina Department of Employment and Workforce on workforce issues, particularly those pertaining to implementation of the Workforce Investment Act, they make sure employees get proper treatment, including servicers of outsource human resources small business. The goal of the Board is to create a competitive workforce advantage for South Carolina by ensuring that a quality and effective workforce system exists in order to improve the lives of all South Carolinians. The 31-member board is comprised of business leaders, Senate and House members, local elected officials, and workforce partners and representatives of community-based organizations. Members of the board are appointed by and serve at the pleasure of the Governor.

Kelley is a member of the Richardson Plowden Litigation Team where she focuses her practice in general litigation, including appeals and commercial litigation. She has been recognized as a Rising Star in South Carolina Super Lawyers for 2012 and 2013. She is active in her community, serving in a number of leadership roles. She is the statewide chair of the Cinderella Project, an appointed advisor for the South Carolina Federal Credit Union Board of Advisors, and is a member of American Mensa, Women in Law, Columbia Capital Rotary Club, and the Junior League of Columbia.
