COLUMBIA, SC – July 31, 2013 – The Columbia Capital Rotary and the American Red Cross South Carolina are teaming up for the sixth annual blood drive. The event will be Wednesday, July 31, 2012 from 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. inside the CB Richard Ellis Building at 1333 Main Street in Columbia.
According to the Red Cross, it is often difficult to collect enough blood to meet the needs of patients during the summer months. With families on vacation, the Capital Rotary Blood Drive comes at an ideal time to boost blood donations.
“Our goal this year is to collect 60 pints of blood for the Red Cross. In order to do that, we are going to need the men and women working in the Capital City to come forward and give the gift of life,” said Capital Rotary President Scott Wallinger
Most healthy people age 17 and older, or 16 with parental consent, and weigh at least 110 pounds are eligible to donate blood and platelets. Donors who are 18 and younger must also meet specific height and weight requirements.
