An occasional change of pace is refreshing. That applies to Rotary clubs as well as to individuals. In the months having a fifth Wednesday, Capital Rotary opts for a field trip instead of the usual Palmetto Club meeting. This special event features a continental breakfast and tour of a local business, government or civic facility. Sites have included the Amazon distribution center, Nephron Pharmaceuticals, USC’s Darla Moore School of Business, Nickelodeon Theater, City Roots organic farm, Palmetto Health Baptist Parkridge Hospital and Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, to name a few.
The fifth Wednesday increases our knowledge of community people, places and things. The more we know about their role in the Midlands, the better we understand our potential for meaningful relationships on a club, personal or professional basis. Fifth Wednesdays also promote fellowship in casual, more relaxed settings.
